Mr. Shepard has written or collaborated on over 25 separate independent film projects. He consistently places in the top 10 percentile in noted competitions such as the Gee Nicholl Fellowships, sponsored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and the Austin Screenplay Competition.

He is a published author and has been favorably reviewed by The Washington Times and Videomaker Magazine where he won Grand Prize in the 1997 Videomaker - Panasonic Video Competition. He is a 2003 Florida Motion Picture and Television Association Crystal Reel Award winner for screenwriting and is a member of the Board of Advisors of Florida Film Investment Company.

1991 - - A short story was published in the hardcover anthology, The Literature of Work (University of Phoenix Press). Both the anthology and the story were favorably reviewed in the June 1992 issue of The World & I, published by The Washington Times.
